The green turf is then rolled out, stretched to remove manufacturing curl, and secured around the perimeter with landscape staples and benderboard edge restraint. Seaming on a putting green requires alignment of the nap direction across sections—any deviation creates a putt-affecting grain difference that is invisible to the eye but detectable on the ball.
Once the turf is secured, we install the cups—full-depth regulation cups at a minimum of four inches below the turf surface—and complete the collar and fringe zones using a slightly higher-pile product that distinguishes the putting surface from the surround. We brush the installed surface with a steel-bristle power brush to lift the pile uniformly, then test ball roll at each cup from multiple distances and angles to verify surface consistency.
